MDB Joint Methodologies for Measuring Mobilisation and Private Finance for Development
What it examines
Updates the joint mobilisation methodology, including attribution between institutions and treatment of portfolio risk transfers. A new generation guide measures finance attracted through an institution’s balance sheet, credit or other attributes. A separate progress note develops an approach to catalysation. These indicators capture different actions and must not be added together; mobilisation figures record commitments, not disbursements.
Why it matters
BII participates through EDFI, alongside several multilaterals in which the UK is a shareholder. The package informs how the UK can scrutinise reported mobilisation and the use of public capital. It does not announce new UK finance or restate an institution’s results.
